At the start of the ceremony, Jen and Craig's mothers each lit a candle symbolizing the lives of Jen and Craig thus far. After Jen and Craig were pronounced "man and wife", they used their individual candles to light one larger candle symbolizing their new life together. The smaller candles were then blown out.
